Slaves Of Thy Shining Eyes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDDC EFEGHIIH JKJLMGGM IBINOGGO

SLAVES of thy shining eyes are even thoseA
That diadems of might and empire bearB
Drunk with the wine that from thy red lip flowsA
Are they that e'en the grape's delight forswearB
Drift like the wind across a violet bedC
Before thy many lovers weeping lowD
And clad like violets in blue robes of woeD
Who feel thy wind blown hair and bow the headC
-
Thy messenger the breath of dawn and mineE
A stream of tears since lover and belovedF
Keep not their secret through my verses shineE
Though other lays my flower's grace have provedG
And countless nightingales have sung thy praiseH
When veiled beneath thy curls thou passest seeI
To right and leftward those that welcome theeI
Have bartered peace and rest on thee to gazeH
-
But thou that knowest God by heart awayJ
Wine drunk love drunk we inherit ParadiseK
His mercy is for sinners hence and prayJ
Where wine thy cheek red as red erghwan dyesL
And leave the cell to faces sinisterM
Oh Khizr whose happy feet bathed in life's fountG
Help one who toils afoot the horsemen mountG
And hasten on their way I scarce can stirM
-
Ah loose me not ah set not Hafiz freeI
From out the bondage of thy gleaming hairB
Safe only those safe and at libertyI
That fast enchained in thy linked ringlets areN
But from the image of his dusty cheekO
Learn this from Hafiz proudest heads shall bendG
And dwellers on the threshold of a friendG
Be crown d with the dust that crowns the meekO
