My Friend Has Fled Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCA DEEDFFD GAAGHH AEEA

My friend has fled alas my friend has fledA
And left me nought but tears and pain behindB
Like smoke above a flame caught by the windB
So rose she from my breast and forth she spedA
Drunk with desire I seized Love's cup divineC
But she that held it poured the bitter wineC
Of Separation into it and fledA
-
The hunter she and I the helpless preyD
Wounded and sick round me her toils she drewE
My heart into a sea of sorrow threwE
Bound up her camel loads and fled awayD
Fain had I laid an ambush for her soulF
She saw and vanished and the timid foalF
Good Fortune slipped the rein and would not stayD
-
My heart was all too narrow for my woeG
And tears of blood my weeping eyes have shedA
A crimson stream across the desert spedA
Rising from out my sad heart's overflowG
She knew not what Love's meanest slave can tellH
''Tis sweet to serve ' but threw me a FarewellH
Kissing my threshold turned and cried 'I go '-
-
In the clear dawn before the east was redA
Before the rose had torn her veil in twoE
A nightingale through Hafiz' garden flewE
Stayed but to fill its song with tears and fledA
