their funny antics and little games | I |
have reasons of their own | J |
the reasons that we need not know | K |

I used to think that their words | L |
their thoughts and wishes come from God | M |
and they themselves came from heaven | A |
to make this world a better place | C |

But when sometimes passion runs foul | N |
in blasts of empty rage | O |
I see them pinned to a wall | P |
or hiding behind doors and sofas | Q |
I see that then they look clumsy too | R |

And when they struggle to understand | S |
The questions that they need not even ask | T |
O yes they look clumsy too | R |

As if in this big wide world | D |
They have come to be | B |

Poet's note: I wrote this poem some years ago, do not remember the exact date/year. It is about children, domestic violence. When children struggle to understand the adult world around them, especially when things are not going well. This poem aims to draw attention to that aspect of our life that should be very close to your heart.
