Clumsy Kids Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFG HIJK LMAC NOPQR STR DBU V

I used to think that childrenA
could never look clumsyB
or out of placeC
in this big wide worldD
they will always haveE
their innocent charmF
and a place in every heartG
-
I used to think that their cheeky smilesH
their funny antics and little gamesI
have reasons of their ownJ
the reasons that we need not knowK
-
I used to think that their wordsL
their thoughts and wishes come from GodM
and they themselves came from heavenA
to make this world a better placeC
-
But when sometimes passion runs foulN
in blasts of empty rageO
I see them pinned to a wallP
or hiding behind doors and sofasQ
I see that then they look clumsy tooR
-
And when they struggle to understandS
The questions that they need not even askT
O yes they look clumsy tooR
-
As if in this big wide worldD
They have come to beB
Contrary to the will of godsU

Poet's note: I wrote this poem some years ago, do not remember the exact date/year. It is about children, domestic violence. When children struggle to understand the adult world around them, especially when things are not going well. This poem aims to draw attention to that aspect of our life that should be very close to your heart.
