Do you know that there is hungerA

Do you know that there is thirst and that the twoB
-
are the most cruel animals that live on the flesh ofC
-
your precious freedomD
-
I have come to you as the voice of the whole nationE
-
To tell you that if you want to escape from their clutchesF
-
and also your generation along with youB
-
then reject the dolls and picture books thatG
-
your father gets you Ask him to get you fields and factoriesH
-
And tell him they are the toys which you likeI
-
If your father cannot get them for youB
-
let all the fathers of the country uniteJ
-
My children when you go to the collegesK
-
do you know the fields look at you with tearful eyesL
-
They ask why always this futile procession of booksM
-
in the roads of this country what good after allN
-
did they do to this landO
-
you go into walls of the colleges from thereP
-
into the walls from which nobody ever returnedQ
-
Then when did you live I want to knowR
-
Then generation of your father did the sameS
-
leaving that very question as their legacy to you their sonsT
-
When you walk past holding your slates and booksM
-
to my eyes you look like child christs each carrying his crossU
-
Rise my child rise from your childhoodV
-
Cast away your books take up your plough break the old chainsW
-
and run to the voice of the fieldsX
-
Bid goodbye to the old roadsY
-
Listen to me I bestow on you the great giftZ
-
of my ferocious fire which like a miser IA2
-
carefully saved in my heart Burn this rubbishB2
-
of the old and create a new world of your ownC2
-
Roar like the hoary winds and announce thatG
-
you have not come to merely eat and breatheD2
-
and then lay down your breath and simply leaveE2
-
That you are those giant fires that left the forest landsF2
-
that you are the mighty seas which broke their bundG2
-
This moment in history climbs my peaks and callsH2
-
My journey turns into a drop of sweatI2
-
and stands upon my brow nowJ2
-
I bequeath to you this truth with the signature of my bloodK2
-
Freedom is the first breath of manL2
-
That is the living language of your blood andG2
-
it shall be your sole desire to retain it untilM2
-
you lift your last foot step from this earthN2
-
Fields alone are your schools rivers clouds sunrisesH2
-
and sunsets are your teachers wholeheartedly surrenderA
-
to their language Accept the discipline they imposeH2
-
Fields grant you the gift of freedomD
-
They present you the happiness of breathing in completeO2
-
relaxation they give you an enormous plateau like chestP2
-
legs of hard iron a pair of eyes that spit fire of self respectQ2
-
and a head held erect like a mountain topR2
-
come lay yourself at the feet of your new teachersH2
-
Walk with courage the country is yoursH2
-

why should you have a heart if you cannot fill it with painsH2
-
Why should you have those eyes if you cannot wet them with tearsH2
-
I cry each day a thousand timesH2
-
I realize my liberation when I merge with youB
-
You are my seaH2
-
I runE
-
Only to flow into you from the cloudsH2
-
from the hills from the forest from all directions of my countryH2
-
But look I am the great flood rushing forward don't comeD
-
in my way Don't try mean tricks on meH2
-
To turn me into petty channels of utilityH2
-
Look at force of my wild fretting watersH2
-
Your eyes will go into rapturesH2
-
Listen to the wrath in the roar of my voiceH2
-
Your ears will enjoy feasts of ecstasyH2
-
Read the epic of my journeyH2
-
Come I shall roast your hearts on the flames of my languageS2
-
I shall show you your destinationE
-
Like a brute I shall hew the society of ManL2
-
as a tree is cleft by a thunderboltT2
-
I shall burn all my papers I shall burst all my hillsH2
-
I shall paint the whole house of my body with pure bloodK2
-
and light all my windows with the lamps of wild voicesH2
-
I shall squeeze from my every nerve and donate all my lightJ
-
I shall bleed to the last drop and my whole energyH2
-
shall bear every fruit of the earthN2
-
And thenU2
-
I shall bask in the warmth of fulfillment thatG
-
I could give one flash of awakenment to my peopleV2
-

Do you know how the grain is comingW2
-
Do you know who are tilling the landO
-
Do you know who makes the plough intoB
-
the life giving weapon of the tillerA
-
Do you know what power the earth possessesH2
-
Know my friend the creative powers of the earthN2
-
In the flames the iron is red hot in the mid noonX2
-
the heart is wilting heavy blows of the hammer are fallingW2
-
on the solid iron which is burning like the rising sunE
-
The steel armed heroes are blowing storms burning old worldsH2
-
and recasting new ones in the smithy labourY2
-
Those toiling multitudes of bygone days vanished intoB
-
the earth without a voiceH2
-
Call my heroes that voice back to life todayZ2
-
Thunder my heroes that their bread shouldV
-
be returned to themA3
-
Resurrect the flaming humanity buried inB3
-
the dust of their bodiesH2
-
Furnaces are blazing in the eyes of oxenE
-
fury is raging on the forehead of the ploughJ2
-
O sun burn burn yet more until all ourA
-
dark nights are vanquished foreverA
