He fell in love with the woman called wife
We were all part of the his love story
As he walked towards his future and watery eyes turned to wave us goodbye
We sealed his face with cries of “don’t worry”
“She’s a good woman and she’ll take care of you and the babies you’ll bear”
In three years time you’ll get used to the rhythm and pressures of marriage
Be like your friend Ama…… four children and counting
He fell in love with a woman called wife, did he or we assume, planned and gave our blessing
To what he considered a curse or behind bars???
They said they found her naked and unconscious hoping to consummate the union which she had bought
The doctors wondered why her daughter was huddled in a corner
But the riddle was solved when he was named as one of the husbands
“She was biting me”, he said in-between sobs
The poor thing wasn’t even mature enough to understand foreplay
He was not in love with the woman called wife
She lies unconscious on a hospital bed while society ridicules him for his actions
Now, she’s the victim and he’s the criminal
She took his innocence, yet all you see is a wicked woman
There lies your mistake. He is the infant grown of an old woman.
A Woman Called Wife.
