The Royal Tombs Of Golconda Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB AAAA CDED FGFG HIHI JAJA

I MUSE among these silent fanesA
Whose spacious darkness guards your dustB
Around me sleep the hoary plainsA
That hold your ancient wars in trustB
-
I pause my dreaming spirit hearsA
Across the wind's unquiet tidesA
The glimmering music of your spearsA
The laughter of your royal bridesA
-
In vain O Kings doth time aspireC
To make your names oblivion's sportD
While yonder hill wears like a tierE
The ruined grandeur of your fortD
-
Though centuries falter and declineF
Your proven strongholds shall remainG
Embodied memories of your lineF
Incarnate legends of your reignG
-
O Queens in vain old Fate decreedH
Your flower like bodies to the tombI
Death is in truth the vital seedH
Of your imperishable bloomI
-
Each new born year the bulbuls singJ
Their songs of your renascent lovesA
Your beauty wakens with the springJ
To kindle these pomegranate grovesA
