Street Cries Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEECC FFGGCC

WHEN dawn's first cymbals beat upon the skyA
Rousing the world to labour's various cryA
To tend the flock to bind the mellowing grainB
From ardent toil to forge a little gainB
And fasting men go forth on hurrying feetC
Buy bread buy bread rings down the eager streetC
-
-
When the earth falters and the waters swoonD
With the implacable radiance of noonD
And in dim shelters ko ls hush their notesE
And the faint thirsting blood in languid throatsE
Craves liquid succour from the cruel heatC
Buy fruit buy fruit steals down the panting streetC
-
-
When twilight twinkling o'er the gay bazaarsF
Unfurls a sudden canopy of starsF
When lutes are strung and fragrant torches litG
On white roof terraces where lovers sitG
Drinking together of life's poignant sweetC
Buy flowers buy flowers floats down the singing streetC
