To Erinna Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEEDFGHFGH

Was Time not harsh to you or was he kindA
O pale Erinna of the perfect lyreB
That he has left no word of singing fireC
Whereby you waked the dreaming Lesbian windA
And kindled night along the lyric shoreD
O girl whose lips Erato stooped to kissE
Do you go sorrowing because of thisE
In fields where poets sing forevermoreD
Or are you glad and is it best to beF
A silent music men have never heardG
A dream in all our souls that we may sayH
Her voice had all the rapture of the seaF
And all the clear cool quiver of a birdG
Deep in a forest at the break of dayH
