To Dick, On His Sixth Birthday Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDDBBEEFFGGHHII JJ

Tho' I am very old and wiseA
And you are neither wise nor oldB
When I look far into your eyesA
I know things I was never toldB
I know how flame must strain and fretC
Prisoned in a mortal netC
How joy with over eager wingsD
Bruises the small heart where he singsD
How too much life like too much goldB
Is sometimes very hard to holdB
All that is talking I knowE
This much is true six years agoE
An angel living near the moonF
Walked thru the sky and sang a tuneF
Plucking stars to make his crownG
And suddenly two stars fell downG
Two falling arrows made of lightH
Six years ago this very nightH
I saw them fall and wondered whyI
The angel dropped them from the skyI
But when I saw your eyes I knewJ
The angel sent the stars to youJ
