The Unchanging Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE

Sun swept beaches with a light wind blowingA
From the immense blue circle of the seaB
And the soft thunder where long waves whitenC
These were the same for Sappho as for meB
-
Two thousand years much has gone by foreverD
Change takes the gods and ships and speech of menE
But here on the beaches that time passes overD
The heart aches now as thenE
