Nahant Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGB HIJA

Bowed as an elm under the weight of its beautyA
So earth is bowed under her weight of splendorB
Molten sea richness of leaves and the burnishedC
Bronze of sea grassesD
-
Clefts in the cliff shelter the purple sand peasE
And chicory flowers bluer than the oceanF
Flinging its foam high white fire in sunshineG
Jewels of waterB
-
Joyous thunder of blown waves on the ledgesH
Make me forget war and the dark war sorrowI
Against the sky a sentry paces the sea cliffJ
Slim in his khakiA
