A Maiden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH GCJC

Oh if I were the velvet roseA
Upon the red rose vineB
I'd climb to touch his windowC
And make his casement fineB
-
And if I were the little birdD
That twitters on the treeE
All day I'd sing my love for himF
Till he should harken meE
-
But since I am a maidenG
I go with downcast eyesH
And he will never hear the songsI
That he has turned to sighsH
-
And since I am a maidenG
My love will never knowC
That I could kiss him with a mouthJ
More red than roses blowC
