The Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB FBFB BGBG BHB

As late each flower that sweetest blowsA
I pluck'd the Garden's prideB
Within the petals of a RoseA
A sleeping Love I 'spiedB
-
Around his brows a beamy wreathC
Of many a lucent hueD
All purple glow'd his cheek beneathC
Inebriate with the dewD
-
I softly seiz'd th' unguarded PowerE
Nor scar'd his balmy restB
And plac'd him cag'd within the flowerE
On spotless Sara's breastB
-
But when unweeting of the guileF
Awoke the pris'ner sweetB
He struggled to escape awhileF
And stamp'd his faery feetB
-
Ah soon the soul entrancing sightB
Subdued th' impatient boyG
He gaz'd he thrill'd with deep delightB
Then clapp'd his wings for joyG
-
'And O ' he cried 'Of magic kindB
What charms this Throne endearH
Some other Love let Venus findB
I'll fix my empire here '-
