As late each flower that sweetest blowsA
I pluck'd the Garden's prideB
Within the petals of a RoseA
A sleeping Love I 'spiedB

Around his brows a beamy wreathC
Of many a lucent hueD
All purple glow'd his cheek beneathC
Inebriate with the dewD

I softly seiz'd th' unguarded PowerE
Nor scar'd his balmy restB
And plac'd him cag'd within the flowerE
On spotless Sara's breastB

But when unweeting of the guileF
Awoke the pris'ner sweetB
He struggled to escape awhileF
And stamp'd his faery feetB

Ah soon the soul entrancing sightB
Subdued th' impatient boyG
He gaz'd he thrill'd with deep delightB
Then clapp'd his wings for joyG

'And O ' he cried 'Of magic kindB
What charms this Throne endearH
Some other Love let Venus findB
I'll fix my empire here '-
