Sonnet Xxii. To Simplicity Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCAEAFGAO I do love thee meek Simplicity | A |
For of thy lays the lulling simpleness | B |
Goes to my heart and soothes each small distress | B |
Distress tho' small yet haply great to me | A |
'Tis true on Lady Fortune's gentlest pad | C |
I amble on yet tho' I know not why | D |
So sad I am but should a friend and I | D |
Grow cool and miff O I am very sad | C |
And then with sonnets and with sympathy | A |
My dreamy bosom's mystic woes I pall | E |
Now of my false friend plaining plaintively | A |
Now raving at mankind in general | F |
But whether sad or fierce 'tis simple all | G |
All very simple meek Simplicity | A |
