Sonnet Xvi. To Earl Stanhope Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDDEDEFF

Not Stanhope with the Patriot's doubtful nameA
I mock thy worth Friend of the human raceB
Since scorning Faction's low and partial aimA
Aloof thou wendest in thy stately paceB
Thyself redeeming from that leprous stainC
Nobility and aye unterrifiedD
Pourest thine Abdiel warnings on the trainC
That sit complotting with rebellious prideD
'Gaint her who from the Almighty's bosom leaptD
With whirlwind arm fierce Minister of LoveE
Wherefore ere Virtue o'er thy tomb hath weptD
Angels shall lead thee to the Throne aboveE
And thou from forth its clouds shall hear the voiceF
Champion of Freedom and her God rejoiceF
