Sonnet Ii. On A Discovery Made Too Late Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEEF

Thou bleedest my poor heart and thy distressA
Reas'ning I ponder with a scornful smileB
And probe thy sore wound sternly tho' the whileB
Swollen be mine eye and dim with heavinessA
Why didst thou listen to Hope's whisper blandC
Or list'ning why forget the healing taleD
When Jealousy with fev'rish fancies paleD
Jarred thy fine fibres with a maniac's handC
Faint was that Hope and rayless Yet 'twas fairE
And soothed with many a dream the hour of restF
Thou shouldst have loved it most when most opprestF
And nursed it with an agony of careE
Even as a Mother her sweet infant heirE
That wan and sickly droops upon her breastF
