Kisses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABBAACCDDEEFFAA

Cupid if storying legends tell arightA
Once framed a rich elixer of delightA
A chalice o'er love kindled flames he fixedA
And in it nectar and ambrosia mixedA
With these the magic dews which evening bringsB
Brushed from the Idalian star by fairy wingsB
Each tender pledge of sacred faith he joinedA
Each gentler pleasure of th' unspotted mindA
Day dreams whose tints with sportive brightness glowC
And hope the blameless parasite of woeC
The eyeless chemist heard the process riseD
The steamy chalice bubbled up in sighsD
Sweet sounds transpired as when the enamoured doveE
Pours the soft murmuring of responsive loveE
The finished work might envy vainly blameF
And 'kisses' was the precious compound's nameF
With half the god his Cyprian mother blestA
And breathed on Sara's lovelier lips the restA
