A Child's Evening Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGAH

Ere on my bed my limbs I layA
God grant me grace my prayers to sayA
O God preserve my mother dearB
In strength and health for many a yearB
And O preserve my father tooC
And may I pay him reverence dueC
And may I my best thoughts employD
To be my parents' hope and joyD
And O preserve my brothers bothE
From evil doings and from slothE
And may we always love each otherF
Our friends our father and our motherF
And still O Lord to me impartG
An innocent and grateful heartG
That after my last steep I mayA
Awake to thy eternal day AmenH
