Grand ma used to tell me that except I doB
Harm to othersC
Evil will never befall meD
Good things come to those who waitE
Providing they are ready to wait withF
The legendary patience of the elephantG
Oh God My Heavenly FatherH
Where are the glad tidings promisedI
To us the sheepishly patient fellowsJ
When do our feet greet the promised landK
The ecstasy and the much awaited gleeD
Too many times have we watched the sun dropL
Countless times have we taken a shot and misfiredK
Oh what about the long dreadful nightsM
Where sleep seemed to be strolling the other sideK
Climaxing in so many dreams and disapprovalsM
The mornings coming soon enoughN
And life staring us in the face with nothing to showO
I look to the skies the stars of luck eluded meD
I took shade under a famous treeD
It refused to shield me from the rainsM
Grand ma I remember the name you gave meD
You told me a hundreth times and moreP
That it shall be well with meD
The blessings you spat at my face pure and potentK
And how you said good always triumphs over evilQ
In the long runR
Your wrinkled hand warm and wise with loveS
And I believed it when you told meD
That I shall never embark on my journeyD
When the roads go hungryD
I had believed in all you told me motherH
Your wisdom your ways and your guidanceM
And your maternal love solid and trueB
Oh my Heavenly Father I believed in youB
I still believe in youB
Forgive me if at times I lost myself in the waysM
of the worldK
I do not deny those things that time has forged me intoB
I do not despair over the things that time has deprived me ofS
My grief is because of what was left behindK
Those things impossible to forgetK
By your commandmentsM
I had plunged the dark waters of life with loveS
Over and over have I been greeted with hatredK
And betrayalsM
So much disdain and disaffectionR
For the love of You Father I refused to strayT
From the path you ordained for meD
But they keep scooping the earth beneath my feetK
So many times have I faltered and fallenR
And there wasn't any ready hand to pull me upU
The friends I beamed my light on while gropping in the darkV
Have suddenly been turned into foesM
By earthly possessionsM
And I have become a sword bereft of its scabbardK
I have come to realize that there's no justiceM
In the universe save for the one granted by You FatherH

Poet's note: This poem was written in one of those times when my insignificant and frailty in the universe saturated me. Leaving me feeling alone and unaccomplished.
