Ch 02 The Morals Of Dervishes Story 48 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDEFGDHGDIJKLJMJ FNOP

I saw bouquets of fresh rosesA
Tied upon a cupola of grassB
I asked What is despicable grassB
To sit also in the line of the rosesA
The grass wept and said HushC
Companionship does not obliterate nobilityD
Although I have no beauty colour and perfumeE
Am I not after all the grass of his gardenF
I am the slave of a bountiful lordG
Cherished from old by his liberalityD
Whether I possess virtue or notH
I hope for grace from the LordG
Although I possess no propertyD
No capital to offer as obedienceI
He knows the remedy for the slaveJ
To whom no support remainsK
It is customary that the owner gives a writL
Of emancipation to an old slaveJ
O God who hast adorned the universeM
Be bountiful to thy old slaveJ
Sa di take the road to the Ka bah of submissionF
O man of God follow the way of GodN
Unlucky is he who turns his headO
Away from this door for he will find no other doorP
