Ch 02 The Morals Of Dervishes Story 45 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEFBGHBI

A kind old man in BaghdadA
Gave his daughter to a cobblerB
The cruel little man so bit herB
That blood flowed from the daughter s lipsC
Next morning the father saw her thusD
And going to the bridegroom asked himE
O mean wretch what teeth are theseF
Chewest thou thus her lips They are not leatherB
I do not say these words in jestG
Leave joking off and enjoy her seriouslyH
If ill humour becomes fixed in a natureB
It will not leave it till the time of deathI
