Ch 01 Manner Of Kings Story 02 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDAEF GHIJKLAM

One of the kings of Khorasan had a vision in a dream of SultanA
Mahmud one hundred years after his death His whole person appearedB
to have been dissolved and turned to dust except his eyes which wereC
revolving in their orbits and looking about All the sages were unableD
to give an interpretation except a dervish who made his salutationA
and said 'He is still looking amazed how his kingdom belongs toE
others 'F
-
Many famous men have been buried under groundG
Of whose existence on earth not a trace has remainedH
And that old corpse which had been surrendered to the earthI
Was so consumed by the soil that not a bone remainsJ
The glorious name of Nushirvan survives in good reputeK
Although much time elapsed since he passed awayL
Do good O man and consider life as a good fortuneA
The more so as when a shout is raised a man exists no moreM
