The Vampire Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAAB CDEED FBFFFB GDBBD HBHHHB IDBBD

A fool there was and he made his prayerA
Even as you and IB
To a rag and a bone and a hank of hairA
We called her the woman who did not careA
But the fool he called her his lady fairA
Even as you and IB
-
Oh the years we waste and the tears we wasteC
And the work of our head and handD
Belong to the woman who did not knowE
And now we know that she never could knowE
And did not understandD
-
A fool there was and his goods he spentF
Even as you and IB
Honor and faith and a sure intentF
But a fool must follow his natural bentF
And it wasn't the least what the lady meantF
Even as you and IB
-
Oh the toil we lost and the spoil we lostG
And the excellent things we plannedD
Belong to the woman who didn't know whyB
And now we know she never knew whyB
And did not understandD
-
The fool we stripped to his foolish hideH
Even as you and IB
Which she might have seen when she threw him asideH
But it isn't on record the lady triedH
So some of him lived but the most of him diedH
Even as you and IB
-
And it isn't the shame and it isn't the blameI
That stings like a white hot brandD
It's coming to know that she never knew whyB
Seeing at last she could never know whyB
And never could understandD
