The Mother's Son Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHBH IJBJ CKBL MNBN OPQP

I have a dream a dreadful dreamA
A dream that is never doneB
I watch a man go out of his mindC
And he is My Mother's SonB
-
They pushed him into a Mental HomeD
And that is like the graveE
For they do not let you sleep upstairsF
And you aren't allowed to shaveE
-
And it was not disease or crimeG
Which got him landed thereH
But because They laid on My Mother's SonB
More than a man could bearH
-
What with noise and fear of deathI
Waking and wounds and coldJ
They filled the Cup for My Mother's SonB
Fuller than it could holdJ
-
They broke his body and his mindC
And yet They made him liveK
And They asked more of My Mother's SonB
Than any man could giveL
-
For just because he had not diedM
Nor been discharged nor sickN
They dragged it out with My Mother's SonB
Longer than he could stickN
-
And no one knows when he'll get wellO
So there he'll have to beP
And 'spite of the beard in the looking glassQ
I know that man is meP
