The Expert Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEFEGG HEIEEE JKJKLL

Youth that trafficked long with DeathA
And to second life returnsB
Squanders little time or breathA
On his fellow man's concernsB
Earned peace is all he asksC
To fulfill his broken tasksC
-
Yet if he find war at homeD
Waspish and importunateE
He hath means to overcomeF
Any warrior at his gateE
For the past he buried bringsG
Back unburiable thingsG
-
Nights that he lay out to spyH
Whence and when the raid might startE
Or prepared in secrecyI
Sudden blows to break its heartE
All the lore of No Man's LandE
Steels his soul and arms his handE
-
So if conflict vex his lifeJ
Where he thought all conflict doneK
He resuming ancient strifeJ
Springs his mine or trains his gunK
And in mirth more dread than wrathL
Wipes the nuisance from his pathL
