The Cat That Walked By Himself Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGFGGHGH IJIJKHKH

Pussy can sit by the fire and singA
Pussy can climb a treeB
Or play with a silly old cork and stringA
To 'muse herself not meB
But I like Binkie my dog becauseC
He knows how to behaveD
So Binkie's the same as the First Friend wasE
And I am the Man in CaveD
-
Pussy will play Man Friday tillF
It's time to wet her pawG
And make her walk on the window sillF
For the footprint Crusoe sawG
Then she fluffles her tail and mewsG
And scratches and won't attendH
But Binkie will play whatever I chooseG
And he is my true First FriendH
-
Pussy will rub my knees with her headI
Pretending she loves me hardJ
But the very minute I go to my bedI
Pussy runs out in the yardJ
And there she stays till the morning lightK
So I know it is only pretendH
But Binkie he snores at my feet all nightK
And he is my Firstest FriendH
