Once we feared The Beast when he followed us we ranA
Ran very fast though we knewB
It was not right that The Beast should master ManA
But what could we Flint workers doB
The Beast only grinned at our spears round his earsC
Grinned at the hammers that we madeD
But now we will hunt him for the life with the KnifeE
And this is the Buyer of the BladeD
-
Room for his shadow on the grass let it passF
To left and right stand clearG
This is the Buyer of the Blade be afraidD
This is the great god TyrG
-
Tyr thought hard till he hammered our a planA
For he knew it was not rightH
And it is not right that The Beast should master ManA
So he went to the Children of the NightH
He begged a Magic Knife of their make for our sakeI
When he begged for the Knife they saidJ
The price of the Knife you would buy is an eyeK
And that was the price he paidD
-
Tell it to the Barrows of the Dead run aheadJ
Shout it so the Women's Side can hearG
This is the Buyer of the Blade be afraidD
This is the great god TyrG
-
Our women and our little ones may walk on the ChalkL
As far as we can see them and beyondM
We shall not be anxious for our sheep when we keepN
Tally at the shearing pondM
We can eat with both our elbows on our knees if we pleaseO
We can sleep after meals in the sunP
For Shepherd of the Twilight is dismayed at the BladeD
Feet in the Night have runP
Dog without a Master goes away Hai Tyr aieQ
Devil in the Dusk has runP
-
ThenR
Room for his shadow on the grass let it passF
To left and to right stand clearG
This is the Buyer of the Blade be afraidD
This is the great god TyrG
