Welcome To Our Canadian Spring Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJKFK LBMBNOPO GQRQSATA

We welcome thy coming bright sunny SpringA
To this snow clad land of oursB
For sunshine and music surround thy stepsC
Thy pathway is strewn with flowersB
And vainly stern Winter with brow of gloomD
Attempted for awhileE
To check thy coming he had to bowF
To the might of thy sunny smileE
-
A touch of thy wand and our streams and lakesG
Are freed from his tyrant swayH
And their clear blue depths in ripples of goldI
Reflect back the sun s bright rayH
Whilst e en the rude rocks that their waters fretJ
Put on mosses green and brightK
And silent deep homage render up nowF
Sweet Spring to thy magic mightK
-
And what words could tell half the wond rous changeL
Thou mak st in our forest bowersB
Replacing the snow with soft velvet swardM
Cold crystals with glowing flowersB
Clothing the leafless unsightly treesN
In rich garb of satin sheenO
And robing the meadows and woodlands wideP
In thine own soft tender greenO
-
And the insect life that thy warm breath wakesG
Now people earth and airQ
And the carolling birds have come back to dwellR
In the charms of thy presence fairQ
Need we wonder all hearts with joyous beatS
Watch the changes thou dost bringA
And with smiles of gladness welcome theeT
To our land bright sunny SpringA
