To My Husband On Our Wedding-day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJKLK MNONPQMQ RSTSLUVU KWXWLYMY

I leave for thee beloved oneA
The home and friends of youthB
Trusting my hopes my happinessC
Unto thy love and truthB
I leave for thee my girlhood's joysD
Its sunny careless mirthE
To bear henceforth my share amidF
The many cares of earthE
-
And yet no wild regret I giveG
To all that now I leaveH
The golden dreams the flow'ry wreathsI
That I no more may weaveH
The future that before me liesJ
A dark and unknown seaK
Whate'er may be its storms or shoalsL
I brave them all with theeK
-
I will not tell thee now of loveM
Whose life ere this thou'st guessedN
And which like sacred secret longO
Was treasured in my breastN
Enough that if thy lot be calmP
Or storms should o'er it sweepQ
Thou'lt learn that it is woman's loveM
Unchanging pure and deepQ
-
If this life's sunshine gild thy lotR
Bestowing wealth and prideS
Its light enjoying I shall standT
Rejoicing at thy sideS
But oh if thou should'st prove the griefsL
That blight thy fellow menU
'Twill be my highest dearest rightV
To be love with thee thenU
-
And thou wilt thou not promise meK
Thy heart will never changeW
That tones and looks so loving nowX
Will ne'er grow stern and strangeW
That thou'lt be kind whatever faultsL
Or failings may be mineY
And bear with them in patient loveM
As I will bear with thineY
