The Stable Of Bethlehem Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED AFAFGHGH IJIJKDKD LMLMNOEO

Twas not a palace proud and fairA
He chose for His first homeB
No dazz ling pile of grandeur rareA
With pillar d hall and domeB
Oh no a stable rude and poorC
Received Him at His birthD
And thus was born unknown obscureE
The Lord of Heaven and EarthD
-
No band of anxious menials thereA
To tend the new born childF
Joseph alone and Mary fairA
Upon the infant smiledF
No broidered linens fine had theyG
Those little limbs to foldH
No baby garments rich and gayG
No tissues wrought with goldH
-
Come to your Saviour s lowly bedI
Ye vain and proud of heartJ
And learn with bowed and humbled headI
The lesson twill impartJ
Twill teach you not to prize too highK
The riches vain of earthD
But to lay up in God s bright skyK
Treasures of truer worthD
-
And you poor stricken sons of griefL
Sad outcasts of this lifeM
Come too and seek a sure reliefL
For your heart s bitter strifeM
Enter that village stable doorN
And view that lowly cotO
Will it not teach you to endureE
And even bless your lotO
