All hail to thee noble and generous LandB
With thy prairies boundless and wideC
Thy mountains that tower like sentinels grandB
Thy lakes and thy rivers of prideC
-
Thy forests that hide in their dim haunted shadesD
New flowers of loveliness rareE
Thy fairy like dells and thy bright golden gladesD
Thy warm skies as Italy s fairE
-
Here Plenty has lovingly smiled on the soilF
And neath her sweet merciful reignG
The brave and long suff ring children of toilF
Need labor no longer in vainG
-
I ask of thee shelter from lawless harmH
Food raiment and promise thee nowI
In return the toil of a stalwart armH
And the sweat of an honest browI
-
But think not I pray that this heart is bereftJ
Of fond recollections of homeK
That I e er can forget the dear land I have leftJ
In the new one to which I have comeL
-
Oh no far away in my own sunny isleM
Is a spot my affection worthN
And though dear are the scenes that around me now smileM
More dear is the place of my birthN
-
There hedges of hawthorn scent the sweet airE
And thick as the stars of the nightO
The daisy and primrose with flow rets as fairE
Gem that soil of soft verdurous lightO
-
And there points the spire of my own village churchP
That long has braved time s iron powerQ
With its bright glitt ring cross and ivy wreathed porchR
Sure refuge in sorrow s dark hourQ
-
Whilst memory lasts think not e er from this breastS
Can pass the fond thoughts of my homeK
No I ne er can forget the land I have leftJ
In the new one to which I have comeL
