All hail to thee noble and generous Land | B |
With thy prairies boundless and wide | C |
Thy mountains that tower like sentinels grand | B |
Thy lakes and thy rivers of pride | C |
- | |
Thy forests that hide in their dim haunted shades | D |
New flowers of loveliness rare | E |
Thy fairy like dells and thy bright golden glades | D |
Thy warm skies as Italy s fair | E |
- | |
Here Plenty has lovingly smiled on the soil | F |
And neath her sweet merciful reign | G |
The brave and long suff ring children of toil | F |
Need labor no longer in vain | G |
- | |
I ask of thee shelter from lawless harm | H |
Food raiment and promise thee now | I |
In return the toil of a stalwart arm | H |
And the sweat of an honest brow | I |
- | |
But think not I pray that this heart is bereft | J |
Of fond recollections of home | K |
That I e er can forget the dear land I have left | J |
In the new one to which I have come | L |
- | |
Oh no far away in my own sunny isle | M |
Is a spot my affection worth | N |
And though dear are the scenes that around me now smile | M |
More dear is the place of my birth | N |
- | |
There hedges of hawthorn scent the sweet air | E |
And thick as the stars of the night | O |
The daisy and primrose with flow rets as fair | E |
Gem that soil of soft verdurous light | O |
- | |
And there points the spire of my own village church | P |
That long has braved time s iron power | Q |
With its bright glitt ring cross and ivy wreathed porch | R |
Sure refuge in sorrow s dark hour | Q |
- | |
Whilst memory lasts think not e er from this breast | S |
Can pass the fond thoughts of my home | K |
No I ne er can forget the land I have left | J |
In the new one to which I have come | L |
