IA
Come tell me some olden storyB
Of Knight or PaladinC
Whose sword on the field of gloryB
Bright laurel wreaths did winC
Tell me of the heart of fireD
His courage rare did proveE
Speak on oh I will not tireD
But never talk of loveF
-
IIA
Or if thou wilt I shall hearkenC
Some magic legend rareG
How the Wizard s power did darkenC
The sunny summer airG
Thou lt tell of Banshee s midnight wailH
Or corpse light s ghastly gleamI
It matters not how wild the taleH
So love be not thy themeI
-
IIIA
Or perhaps thou may st have travelledJ
On distant foreign strandK
Strange secrets have unravelledK
In many a far off landK
Describe each castle hoaryB
Each fair or frowning shoreL
But should love blend in thy storyB
I ll list thy voice no moreL
-
IVF
Thou askest with emotionC
Why am I thus so coldK
Urging all thy past devotionC
Well known well tried of oldK
Hush bend a little nearerD
That sad o erclouded browM
Could love vows make thee dearerD
To me than thou art nowM
