Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGF HICICFCF JKLKMFNF OCPCQFGF RSCSTFGF

Say art thou angry words unkindA
Have fallen upon thine earB
Thy spirit hath been wounded tooC
By mocking jest or sneerD
But mind it not relax at onceE
Thine o ercast and troubled browF
What will be taunt or jest to theeG
In a few short years from nowF
-
Or perhaps thou mayst be piningH
Beneath some bitter griefI
From whose pangs in vain thou seekestC
Or respite or reliefI
Fret not neath Heav n s chastening rodC
But submissive to it bowF
Thy griefs will all be hushed to restC
In a few short years from nowF
-
Art toiling for some worldly aimJ
Or for some golden prizeK
Devoting to that glitt ring goalL
Thy thoughts thy smiles thy sighsK
Ah rest thee from the idle chaseM
With no bliss can it endowF
Of fame or gold what will be thineN
In a few short years from nowF
-
It may be pleasure s roseate dreamsO
Possess thy wayward heartC
Its gilded gauds for better thingsP
Leaving alas no partC
Ah cast away the gems and flowersQ
That bind thy thoughtless browF
Where will their gleam or brightness beG
In a few short years from nowF
-
The good thou may st on earth have doneR
Love to a brother shownS
Pardon to foe alms unto needC
Kind word or gentle toneS
The treasures thus laid up in Heav nT
By the good on earth done nowF
These will alone remain to theeG
In a few short years from nowF
