A Boy-s Hopes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FBFBGHGH IJIJKBLB

Dear mother dry those flowing tearsA
They grieve me much to seeB
And calm oh calm thine anxious fearsC
What dost thou dread for meB
Tis true that tempests wild oft rideD
Above the stormy mainE
But then in Him I will confideD
Who doth their bounds ordainE
-
I go to win renown and fameF
Upon the glorious seaB
But still my heart will be the sameF
I ll ever turn to theeB
See yonder wait our gallant crewG
So weep not mother dearH
My father was a sailor tooG
What hast thou then to fearH
-
Is it not better I should seekI
To win the name he boreJ
Than waste my youth in pastimes weakI
Upon the tiresome shoreJ
Then look not thus so sad and wanK
For yet your son you ll seeB
Return with wealth and honors wonL
Upon the glorious seaB
