in a dogwood tree's branchesD

No friend or kin claimed those bonesE
The high sheriff came Foul playF
he was sure but how or whyG
he found no answers so stayedH

to help break the ground help haulI
a flat rock out of the creekJ
sprinkle some dirt some God wordsK
then left for more recent crimesL

The lovers wed that winterM
On their marriage night they dreamedN
of bouquets of spring flowersO
blooming in a dead man's handP
