Let Me Die A Youngman's Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACA DEBEFG DEEHBI DBJEBKB ABABA

Let me die a youngman's deathA
not a clean and inbetweenB
the sheets holywater deathA
not a famous last wordsC
peaceful out of breath deathA
-
When I'mD
and in constant good tumourE
may I be mown down at dawnB
by a bright red sports carE
on my way homeF
from an allnight partyG
-
Or when I'mD
with silver hairE
and sitting in a barber's chairE
may rival gangstersH
with hamfisted tommyguns burst inB
and give me a short back and insidesI
-
Or when I'mD
and banned from the CavernB
may my mistressJ
catching me in bed with her daughterE
and fearing for her sonB
cut me up into little piecesK
and throw away every piece but oneB
-
Let me die a youngman's deathA
not a free from sin tiptoe inB
candle wax and waning deathA
not a curtains drawn by angels borneB
'what a nice way to go' deathA

Rev. Cheryl : Great--I am a Legion Chaplain and this is so often the wish of these men--and the women for that matter.
