Western Camps Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCABDEDDEAFAAFCGCAG HIHHIJKJJKHLHHMDNDDO

THREE men stood with their glasses liftedA
Night was around them and flaring lampsB
'Here's to the tried and true and siftedC
Here's to the flotsam tossed and driftedA
Here's to the men in the Outcast campsB
'Stars that fall are their lot for everD
Lights that perish and stars that fallE
Fighting Fate with a brave heart everD
Drifting leaves on a wayward riverD
Men for ever in spite of allE
'Here's to the gallant souls defeatedA
Here's to the strong souls under trodF
Hope abandoned and mirage cheatedA
And yet by right of their failure seatedA
Somewhere close to the feet of GodF
'Here's to the heart that braves undauntedC
Toil and trouble for home and wifeG
Here's to the spirit mocked and tauntedC
Here's to the memory sorrow hauntedA
Here's to the soul grown sick of lifeG
'Drink to the man at the camp fire sittingH
Drink to his mistress of long agoI
Well 'twere well and the time were fittingH
If in the shades of the firelight flittingH
She should come with her eyes aglowI
'Drink to the purpose iron oakenJ
Brought to nought by a wanton's guileK
Drink to men with an old love tokenJ
Somewhere close to their brave hearts brokenJ
Drink to the martyred souls that smileK
'Drink to courage and all fine daringH
Spirit trampling the flesh beneathL
Drink to the reckless heart uncaringH
Drink to mates at the last pinch sharingH
Their little all in the face of deathM
'Last toast this may their hearts discoverD
On every track that the outcast trampsN
A friend in need and at need a loverD
Green grass around them and kind stars overD
And dreams of peace in their Western Camps 'O
