The Twenty-fifth Of April Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFFBGHAAIIJJHKL MMNNOOLAPQQMMRRP

THIS day is Anzac DayA
Made sacred by the memoryB
Of those who fought and died and fought and liveC
And gave the best that men may giveD
For love of Land It dawns once moreE
And though on alien sea and shoreE
The guns are silent allF
Yet we with pride recallF
The deeds which gave it immortalityB
Great deeds are deathless thingsG
The doer dies but not the deedH
And when upon that fateful April dayA
Our Anzacs throwing all but love awayA
Gave life and limb for Honour's sakeI
With Freedom tremblingly at stakeI
They lit a beacon lightJ
Imperishable brightJ
That evermore the Nation's soul shall heedH
Not Peace not Peace aloneK
Can make a nation great and goodL
And bring it that full stature strength and graceM
That fit it for an age enduring placeM
In men's regard Through storm and strifeN
It runs to sweet and noble lifeN
For through its veins there runsO
The valour of great sonsO
Who died to give it stately nationhoodL
This day is Anzac DayA
Made sacred by the thrilling thoughtP
Of those who proved their souls it reappearsQ
And thus 'twill dawn and dawn through future yearsQ
Till Time our petty deeds effaceM
And others dwelling in our placeM
Tell o'er with tongue and penR
The glorious tale againR
Of how on beach and crag the Anzacs foughtP
