The Song Of The Cicadas Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABBACBBCDEEEE AAABBAEBBE DEFEF

Yesterday there came to meA
from a green and graceful treeA
as I loitered listlesslyA
nothing doing nothing caringB
light and warmth and fragrance sharingB
with the butterfly and the beeA
while the sapling tops a glistenC
danced and trembled wild and willingB
such a sudden sylvan shrillingB
that I could not choose but listenC
Green Cicadas Black CicadasD
happy in the gracious weatherE
Floury baker Double DrummerE
all as one and all togetherE
how they voiced the golden summerE
-
Stealing back there came to meA
as I loitered listlesslyA
'neath the green and graceful treeA
nothing doing nothing caringB
boyhood moments spent in sharingB
with the butterfly and the beeA
youth and freedom warmth and glamourE
while Cicadas round me shrillingB
set the sleepy noontide thrillingB
with their keen insistent clamourE
-
Green Cicadas Black cicadasD
happy in the gracious weatherE
Floury bakers double drummersF
all as one and all togetherE
how they voice the bygone summersF
