The Long, Lone Road Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDBBEFBGBBDBBEHB BBBDBBEIBGBJDJJEKBDB LDLLE

YOU that had the soft pathA
And the lights brightly glowingB
Your laugh is very still and your hands are very chillC
And where may you be goingB
'Though the light of dawn be breakingB
And the birds of morning callD
All the flowers and trees awakingB
'Tis the long road I'm takingB
The long road the lone road that has no end at all 'E
You that have the red goldF
And the gift of money makingB
Since your journey has no end sure you'll need a heap to spendG
And how much will you be takingB
'O there's little need for spendingB
When the grey shadows fallD
And the twilight lies unendingB
On the way I'll soon be wendingB
The long road the lone road that has no end at all 'E
You that had the choice winesH
In the frail cups glowingB
Is there any need to ask if you'll take a golden flaskB
On the road you'll be goingB
'When I walk a spirit shrinkingB
Where the grey shadows fallD
There'll be little need I'm thinkingB
For the rich delights of drinkingB
On the long road the lone road that has no end at all 'E
You that sought the rich manI
And the ladies jewelled glowingB
Since the way is far to wend sure you'll need a true heart friendG
On the road you'll be goingB
'Nay and not an ear shall heed meJ
Though I call call callD
When the beckoning shadows lead meJ
And no prayer of heart shall speed meJ
On the long road the lone road that has no end at all 'E
You that had the hard heartK
And the selfish soul uncaringB
Is there any deed at all that shall let a comfort fallD
On the road you'll be goingB
'Hush the lights of day have endedL
And the grey shadows fallD
And by no sweet thought attendedL
I must wander unbefriendedL
Down the long road the lone road that has no end at all 'E
