The Dread Beyond Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHIAIJ

WHY do you shudder and stareA
Grown cold in a moment and whiteB
The moon's at her full and the airA
Is flooded with wonderful lightB
There is never a sound or a signC
Or a shadow of harm in the treesD
And the little leaves ripple and shineC
At the kiss and caress of the breezeD
You tremble and shudder my loveE
As a hare at a hound's flashing fangsF
As a bird when in azure aboveE
A poising hawk motionless hangsF
Fear not and the terror shall yieldG
To peace and to sweetness at lengthH
My love is a guard and a shieldG
My arms are a fortress and strengthH
'I fear not the hawk in the skyI
Or the hound though his fangs flash anearA
A dread beyond death makes me sighI
'Tis the end of our love that I fear 'J
