AS I went a walkingA
Through the Morning LandB
Up came FollyC
And took me by the handB
Garbed in velvet doubletB
Clad in silken hoseD
Bells on his droll capE
Bells on his clothesF
Bells on his shouldersG
Bells round his waistB
Tinkled as he shoutedB
'Haste brother hasteB
Youth's a thing that never will be missedB
Till it's gone gone for ever like the dew from the rose 'H
Sparkled all the watersG
Sparkled everythingA
Dew on the petalI
Dew on the wingA
Dew on the meadowsD
Dew in the airJ
Dew on the tall treesK
Dew everywhereJ
Dew on the fine webL
Gemming each partB
Dew on the red mouthM
Dew in the heartB
Toil's a thing that never heart will craveN
In the sweet sweet morning and the dew time rareJ
Song and jest I gatheredB
Strolling up and downO
Talk o' the tavernP
And gossip of the townO
Storing in my walletB
Careless of the throngQ
Coin of golden fancyC
Coin of silver songQ
Gems of jovial friendshipR
Keepsakes manifoldB
Pearls that never gem smithS
Set in filmy goldB
Wealth's a witch that loses half her lureT
When the blood runs red and the pulse beats strongQ
As I went a walkingA
Through the moonlit landB
Up came PrudenceU
And took me by the handB
Solemn was her aspectB
Sober her clothesF
Cruel her questionsV
Hinting chilly woesD
'Where be you a goingA
What have you to eatB
Where's your wood and waterW
Where's your bread and meat 'H
Youth's a thing that never will be missedB
Till it's gone gone for ever like the dew from the roseD
