An Empty Room Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFAGAGHIHI'THIS is the room where Pinksie died' | A |
So runs the writing there on the wall | B |
The world outside is a golden tide | A |
Of light but here the shadows fall | B |
And who was Pinksie a babe or wife | C |
A girl I think in her laughing teens | D |
Who passed away from the feast of life | C |
When boys and girls are kings and queens | D |
I like to think that she laughed at whiles | E |
Her eyes alight with the imps of fun | F |
And knew no sorrow but such as smiles | E |
The moment after the hurt is done | F |
They named her Pinksie I have no doubt | A |
Because of the rich soft blush she wore | G |
The roses paled ere they bore her out | A |
A slim child figure through yonder door | G |
She passed in the joy of her early bloom | H |
To wide dark realms where no planets roll | I |
And I write these lines in the empty room | H |
Where Pinksie died God rest her soul | I |
