Written On Sunday Morning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCDEEFFGHHGG AAIJKKLLCC AMAMMDNDGGOP

Go thou and seek the House of PrayerA
I to the Woodlands wend and thereA
In lovely Nature see the GOD OF LOVEB
The swelling organ's pealC
Wakes not my soul to zealC
Like the wild music of the wind swept groveD
The gorgeous altar and the mystic vestE
Rouse not such ardor in my breastE
As where the noon tide beamF
Flash'd from the broken streamF
Quick vibrates on the dazzled sightG
Or where the cloud suspended rainH
Sweeps in shadows o'er the plainH
Or when reclining on the clift's huge heightG
I mark the billows burst in silver lightG
-
Go thou and seek the House of PrayerA
I to the Woodlands shall repairA
Feed with all Natures charms mine eyesI
And hear all Natures melodiesJ
The primrose bank shall there dispenseK
Faint fragrance to the awaken'd senseK
The morning beams that life and joy impartL
Shall with their influence warm my heartL
And the full tear that down my cheek will stealC
Shall speak the prayer of praise I feelC
-
Go thou and seek the House of PrayerA
I to the woodlands bend my wayM
And meet RELIGION thereA
She needs not haunt the high arch'd dome to prayM
Where storied windows dim the doubtful dayM
With LIBERTY she loves to roveD
Wide o'er the heathy hill or cowslip'd daleN
Or seek the shelter of the embowering groveD
Sweet are these scenes to her and when the nightG
Pours in the north her silver streams of lightG
She woos Reflexion in the silent gloomO
And ponders on the world to comeP
