To My Own Minature Picture Taken At Two Years Of Age Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNMOPAQR QDPSTUPPVURWXYZA2B2Y

And I was once like this that glowing cheekA
Was mine those pleasure sparkling eyes that browB
Smooth as the level lake when not a breezeC
Dies o'er the sleeping surface twenty yearsD
Have wrought strange alteration Of the friendsE
Who once so dearly prized this miniatureF
And loved it for its likeness some are goneG
To their last home and some estranged in heartH
Beholding me with quick averted glanceI
Pass on the other side But still these huesJ
Remain unalter'd and these features wearK
The look of Infancy and InnocenceL
I search myself in vain and find no traceM
Of what I was those lightly arching linesN
Dark and o'erhanging now and that mild faceM
Settled in these strong lineaments There wereO
Who form'd high hopes and flattering ones of theeP
Young Robert for thine eye was quick to speakA
Each opening feeling should they not have knownQ
When the rich rainbow on the morning cloudR
Reflects its radiant dies the husbandmanQ
Beholds the ominous glory sad and fearsD
Impending storms they augur'd happilyP
For thou didst love each wild and wonderous taleS
Of faery fiction and thine infant tongueT
Lisp'd with delight the godlike deeds of GreeceU
And rising Rome therefore they deem'd forsoothP
That thou shouldst tread PREFERMENT'S pleasant pathP
Ill judging ones they let thy little feetV
Stray in the pleasant paths of POESYU
And when thou shouldst have prest amid the crowdR
There didst thou love to linger out the dayW
Loitering beneath the laurels barren shadeX
SPIRIT of SPENSER was the wanderer wrongY
This little picture was for ornamentZ
Design'd to shine amid the motley mobA2
Of Fashion and of Folly is it notB2
More honour'd by this solitary songY
