Sonnet Vii. To The Evening Rainbow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEEFGHGHMild arch of promise on the evening sky | A |
Thou shinest fair with many a lovely ray | B |
Each in the other melting Much mine eye | A |
Delights to linger on thee for the day | B |
Changeful and many weather'd seem'd to smile | C |
Flashing brief splendor thro' its clouds awhile | C |
That deepen'd dark anon and fell in rain | D |
But pleasant is it now to pause and view | E |
Thy various tints of frail and watery hue | E |
And think the storm shall not return again | F |
Such is the smile that Piety bestows | G |
On the good man's pale cheek when he in peace | H |
Departing gently from a world of woes | G |
Anticipates the realm where sorrows cease | H |
