Poems On The Slave Trade - Sonnet Vi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFFEGHHGII

High in the air expos'd the Slave is hungA
To all the birds of Heaven their living foodB
He groans not tho' awaked by that fierce SunC
New torturers live to drink their parent bloodD
He groans not tho' the gorging Vulture tearE
The quivering fibre hither gaze O yeF
Who tore this Man from Peace and LibertyF
Gaze hither ye who weigh with scrupulous careE
The right and prudent for beyond the graveG
There is another world and call to mindH
Ere your decrees proclaim to all mankindH
Murder is legalized that there the SlaveG
Before the Eternal thunder tongued shall pleadI
Against the deep damnation of your deedI
