Poems On The Slave Trade - Sonnet Iii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDEFFGHGH

Oh he is worn with toil the big drops runA
Down his dark cheek hold hold thy merciless handB
Pale tyrant for beneath thy hard commandB
O'erwearied Nature sinks The scorching SunA
As pityless as proud ProsperityC
Darts on him his full beams gasping he liesD
Arraigning with his looks the patient skiesD
While that inhuman trader lifts on highE
The mangling scourge Oh ye who at your easeF
Sip the blood sweeten'd beverage thoughts like theseF
Haply ye scorn I thank thee Gracious GodG
That I do feel upon my cheek the glowH
Of indignation when beneath the rodG
A sable brother writhes in silent woeH
