Ariste Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGG

Let ancient stories round the painter's artA
Who stole from many a maid his Venus' charmsB
Till warm devotion fired each gazer's heartA
And every bosom bounded with alarmsB
He culled the beauties of his native isleC
From some the blush of beauty's vermeil dyesD
From some the lovely look the winning smileC
From some the languid lustre of the eyesD
-
Low to the finished form the nations roundE
In adoration bent the pious kneeF
With myrtle wreaths the artist's brow they crownedE
Whose skill Ariste only imaged theeF
Ill fated artist doomed so wide to seekG
The charms that blossom on Ariste's cheekG
