Yellow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGI JBKBLMLM ANANEOEO

One pearly day of early MayA
I strolled upon the sandB
And saw say half a mile awayA
A man with gun in handB
A dog was cowering to his willC
As slow he sought to creepD
Upon a dozen ducks so stillC
They seemed to be asleepD
-
When like a streak the dog dashed outE
The ducks flashed up in flightF
The fellow gave a savage shoutE
And cursed with all his mightF
Then I stood somewhat amazedG
And gazed with eyes agogH
With bitter rage his gun he raisedG
And blazed and shot the dogI
-
You know how dogs can yelp with painJ
Its blood soaked in the sandB
And yet it crawled to him againK
And tried to lick his handB
Forgive me Lord for what I've doneL
It seemed as if it saidM
But once again he raised his gunL
This time he shot it deadM
-
What could I do What could I sayA
'Twas such a lonely placeN
Tongue tied I saw him stride awayA
I never saw his faceN
I should have bawled the bastard outE
A yellow dog he slewO
But worse he proved beyond a doubtE
That I was yellow tooO
